Community Disability Day - July 9, 2011
Insight for New Housing will once again be hosting the only Community Disability day in the City of New York. "I believe it helps to improve the image of the differently able and allow all New Yorkers to see just what the differently able are capable of accomplishing" says Greg Bell Sr. of Insight.
On July 9, 2011 from 12 noon until 5 pm at Crotona Park in the Bronx (Crotona Avenue at Crotona Park South) Insight will help to focus the residents of the city on three specific areas.
- Health
- Housing
- Legal rights
Agencies will be in attendance to address these issues along with other community based organizations which serve the community. Having entertainers from both communities will help to bridge the gap of understanding. We have also included our legislative leaders to come and participate in sharing with us their efforts to include the disabled agenda in THEIR legislative focus. We need to know that our issues are the same as everyone else's and that when the word 'Community' is used it does not exclude us but instead includes all of the members of the disabled community.
Insight invites you to come and make your voice a part of the musical thread so that the melody of the city can be resounding.
Live entertainment includes:
- DJ Lightening Lance (first to put scratch on wax)
- Kallarje, featuring Bobby White
- Working Class, featuring Linda Spellman
- Carol Johnson of the Marvelettes
- Soloist: Brea Grate
